Children remember letters best when they use their whole body. Trace shapes in sand, build them from clay or hunt for them on a walk.

Fresh air boosts mood, sleep and imagination. In spring, plant seeds; in summer, build a mud kitchen; in autumn, collect leaves; in winter, make ice lanterns.

A shared story is a small daily ritual that builds language, imagination and closeness.

Start with a colourful base: sliced fruit, crunchy vegetables and a small treat. Add protein, such as cheese or hummus, and a wholegrain item.

Technology is part of life, so the aim is balance, not banning. Choose quality content, watch together and agree on routines.

Gather paper, glue, paint and recycled boxes. In an hour you can create puppets, castles or a whole cardboard city.

Talk about what to expect, visit the classroom if possible and practise the morning routine a week in advance.

Confidence grows when children master something difficult. Give them tasks just beyond their comfort zone and celebrate effort, not only results.
